Shenanaoah 1862
It looks like this event will be June 11-12 2010. will give you all a definite on that after I talk with our staff and the SVBF and the Rockingham cluster group.I am pretty sure this will be the date.We were going to do it on the 5-6 of that month but it will conflict with a mainstream event that weekend.alot of things are falling into place for this one and is going smoothly so far. I will be talking with our staff about a link on here for the event after Cedear Creek.We will start promoting the event at Cedar Creek.Any questions about the event just message me on here.More to come!

Will moving it to the weekend after the "mainstream" event affect the attendance at Shen62 any? Are there people who will be attending the event the week before also be coming to this event?
If so, then putting 2 events right together like that will still limit participation because given the current economic issues people may not be able to get 2 weekends off in a row. If the you aren't looking to get anyone from the mainstream event to attend, then it shouldn't matter if it conflicts with the date.
We have some guys looking forward to this event. Once a date is set, I will begin to promote it to those in our group and any others who I think would enjoy the event.

The mainstream event is a very small unit living history that will not effect us at all number wise.But would mabie effect us if we had our event the same weekend becuse some campaigners would not like them being in Port Republic while we were camoing there again Sat evening.That would ruin the best part of the event on Sat.

We voted at battalion meeting last year to do a work weekend at Widow Pnce to put up fence and we can also split wood.We voted to do it in November how about the 7th or if we do not go to rembereance day the 21st of Nov. The foundation and a privatte land owner has split the rails all we need to do is to construct the fence. Irvin Hess will have a tractor there for us and help with the construction.The more we can get there the better and we can stay in the widow pence house.I will line up a tour of the battlefield also.This fence will be used in the Sat senarion the 8th Ny and the 21st gA the 21st will be on the fence for the senario.Give me feed back.

Shenandoah 1862 will be June 11-13 2010. It will be similar to last get the word out to people from other units you know.We are working towards a link on here for the event.We will be promoting the event this weekend at Rembrance Day in Gettysburg me and Dave and who ever else will be there.If anyone has any questions feel free to ask me.

Everything is on schedule for Shenandoah 1862 land owners are on board and local organizations are supportive also and are in discussions of offering man power for logistics getting the locals involved! The fence project is on schedule thanks to some locals and the Battlefields Foundations funding a saw mill.The cedars from one part of the battlefield have been made into fence rails and the next few months the rails will need to be moved modern fence and brush removed and fence assembled.Then we will have a worm fence along the position of the 21st Ga just like they had on sat when the 8th Ny advances they will see a line of muskets sticking through and on the fence and a wall of smoke and flame which will look good to the Yankees and add to the Confederate experince!That is just one of the many twist to give everyone something different this time.More later we have a few more suprises for you all!
