I'm confused regarding the "Battle for Bath" (i.e. Berkeley Springs). Other than the sharp skirmish on the Johnson's Mill Road outside of Bath, there really was no "battle" there. The Federals pretty much fled to Hancock, on information provided by…

We would like your opinion on the idea of gathering a small group (about 50) hard corps troops at Camp Allegheny on the 148th anniversary of the Battle of Allegheny. That’s right. Mid-December on a 4,200-foot ridge in West Virginia. Want to be a par…

AoA Peregistration is now closed.

Folks,

Anyone who is attending Assault on Allegheny, and haven't registered yet, will need to do so on-site.

Also, remember to bring digging implements to prepare fire pits.

And TP!

Battle Reenactments as "Performance Art"

There is an old maxim in reenacting that says,

"Battle reenactment scenarios never go as planned; five minutes into it and the script goes 'out the window', that's why they suck."

This is an interesting (if misbegotten) notion. The underlying premise behind it basically assumes that Civil War reenactments, specifically the battle scenario, is somehow "different" from any other form of performance art. Yet I beg to differ. What we do has all the signifying characters of any performance:… Continue

Bob,
You can get an incorrect opinion of the mindset of a group if you only listen to the loudmouths. That's been my experience, anyway.

Bob,

I had some extra money for the HHS that I meant to give to you at AoA, but forgot to. I mailed it down to you earlier this week.

Hey Bob,

I just got home from being deployed in the Persian Gulf and have yet to set up/buy a printer. Would it be ok if I paid and "John Hancock'ied" all of the papers at AoA? I guess I am sort of RSVP'ing right now. Thanks!!

V/R,
Brad

Bob,
Its June 14th. Hope to see you there just remeber man we only get a small number of guys out to pirate events and the fights are always a little on the chesey side but its fun. Not to mention the group Iam with reminds me of the 5th Battalion in the mid 90s every one is pushing to better there impressions and is headed in the right direction. So its good to reenact with and open minded bunch of guys.
