Cadet Gray and Butternut Brown by Thomas Arliskas has good information on what Confeds were wearing throughout the war and he breaks it down based on early - mid - late with some nice descriptions.
From a quick search, it seems that VA militia regu…

In another forum someone was discussing interpreting to the public when they were asked a question by a spectator. The question seemed simple enough, but at the same time might be the most difficult question to answer.
Q: What did you do yesterday?…
Well first off I would disagree with you Bob about the engagment at Bath, it lasted from 10 in the morning until about 4 in the evening on Janaury 4, and the 39th Illinios put up an admirbale defense, but historical disagreement aside, what is trans…

I have been reenacting since 1998. I started with a unit when I lived down in Albany, GA for a year and then joined the 9th VA when I moved up to Pennsylvania in 1999.
We got it, I've already passed it on to the HHS! Thanks so much.
It appears the event has raised over $6.000, an invaluable shot in the arm for a very fund-ailing HHS. AoA actually raised more money than ANY of the individual McDowell events (of course, our expenses at McDowell tend to be very high).
By having you all be willing to bring your own vittles, and by not having any spectator amenities or infrastructure, we basically were able to direct $18.20, of every $20 donation, to the Museum.
Yes we'll be there by late morning Friday. 1/4 plate ferrotypes are $40, Add $10 for an ambrotype and $15 for a ruby ambrotype. We'll probably put out a sign up sheet but if its not busy well take 'em as they come by. Not sure on the event numbers but it looks like its going to be a good turn-out for sure.

I'm not sure how common they were. I looked for info online but struck out. Goodyear made an entire rubber rain suit, talma, pants, hat, and shoes. They also made inda rubber kepi covers and haversacks, most patented in like 1851, but how common, I don't know. Sounds like a good subject to discuss.
