i forgot to mention, i have a book on the third va cavalry,,written by thomas nanzing??hard to find , out of print for some time,,interesting reading about the formation and exploits of the 3rd,, it mentions peter batte being wounded at mitchells shop,, after the wilderness campaign,,3rd va was in quite a few of the major campaigns,, i will look for the book if you would like to read it..ed

i think dad had either 4 or 5 older sisters,, and a younger brother travis.. aunt fanny,frances i think was the oldest sister,,aunt pat last name was snyder,, i think her husbands name was sam.. most of pat possessions were left to i think a step son?? from sams previous marriage,,he lived in nc i believe.. aunt jac was married to a whittle , two sons ed and richard,, ed used to work for martin=marietta in ga. richard or dickey lived in chester va near petersburg.. i think aunt lelia married a brown,, two sons leonard and howard..both have passed but their sons loenard jr in the richmond area?? and howard near petersburg,,travis in wva passed, had a daughter estelle? and son teddy both in charlston ,, havent seen or heard from either since dad died in 1977.yes i belong to the st charles sportsman club for almost 20 yrs now, i live in sentry woods only 5 min from the range,,used to be a member of tidewater muzzleloaders in annapolis, when they lost their range and joined marriotsville in baltimore i dropped out.i vaguely remember meeting another distant relative that was either a us marshall or court baliff??too many years ago and i dont remember his name..i work at metro trying to keep their trains together,, i worked with a russel cisco, he reitred, but used to do reinactments ..he lives in st marys ... april 10, i lost my baby brother,, john travis epes,, he loved in roanoke,, he had some old, old charcoal drawings that dad had.. i dont know if there might be any of peter batte or not,, i will not rush his wife but in time i will approach her about the drawings..i will have next week 10-14 off, yard work planned,, maybe we can find time to meet then,, stay in touch ,,, ed

richard,, your great aunt pat was my fathers sister,, we lived on 5th street a few block from aunt pat..another of dads sisters, jaqueline lived across the street from us..dad had a brother , travis, lived in charleston wva. he had other older sisters, i remember aunt nene, i think she was lelia,, the name lunette horning comes to mind ,, i forget which of dad s sister was her mom,, i live in sentry woods, in st charles in waldorf,, work for metro 27 yrs now and looking forward to retiring in one more,,stay in touch maybe we can meet one weekend,, i dont know much about dads side of the family, but would like to find out more... ed
